Springtime Hygge

 Hygge is most commonly associated with Fall and Winter. However, there are many things you can do to experience coziness even in the Spring and Summer. Read on to get some ideas for experiencing springtime to the fullest!

1. Have a picnic


Pack your picnic basket and head out to a park or other nature spot. While there, sip lemonade and do some cloud watching. Bring along some binoculars and view the birds. Enjoy the warmth after being indoors during the winter. 

2. Take a bike ride


Time to take your fitness outdoors. Go for a bike ride, or take a nature hike. Snap some photos along the way, or even come up with a scavenger hunt of treasures to find. Hunt for mushrooms (only if you are an experienced forager or bring one along) or seek out a waterfall.

3. Start your garden


Plant your flowers and maybe even some fruits, vegetables and herbs. Create a fairy garden, a butterfly garden, or wildflowers for the bees. Make stepping stones to put in your garden with pretty designs.

4. Rainy day? Enjoy it!


Play in the rain and puddles. After the rain, hunt for rainbows! 

5. Visit the farmer's market


Hit the market and grab some seasonal fruits and veggies. Take a leisurely drive to a market in another nearby town. Bake some springtime treats when you get your bounty home. Enjoy with some herbal tea.

6. Have a BBQ


BBQ isn't just for summer!  Refresh your patio space and invite over some friends. Grill some of those veggies that you got at the farmer's market. Make this more of an upscale al fresco meal as opposed to picnic style summer bbqs. Draw a masterpiece with some sidewalk chalk. Play some great tunes. Plant yourself in a cozy hammock or outdoor reading nook with some poetry and relax a bit when the guests leave before jumping to clean up.

7. Or have brunch!


Host a springtime brunch and spa day! Update your wardrobe, bringing out all of the lighter outfits. Decorate with lots of fresh flowers.  Make some fruity spa water. Paint your nails in pastels. 

8. Spring clean



Clean, declutter and replace all those heavy blankets and curtains with more airy ones. Get some new houseplants. Let in natural light and decorate with nature. Use candles and fairy lights. open up the windows and let in that fresh air. Now is a great time to start home projects.

9. Get out and have fun


Camping, festivals, baseball games, a harbor cruise...enjoy!

10. Celebrate


There is so much more than Easter! Celebrate May Day, Earth Day and every day! 


Have fun and enjoy the springtime! Remember to be mindful and really pay attention to Mother Earth waking up from her slumber.
